In this episode, we discuss imposter syndrome and before we go any further. For those of us unfamiliar with the term, imposter syndrome or imposter phenomenon refers to this belief that you’re not enough, not good enough, not competent enough, and this very constant self-doubt remains even if your life experiences are telling you a different story. When you suffer from this feeling of being an imposter, you’ll continue to feel like a fraud living in fear of being found out, being exposed as the talent-less trickster who has built their life on luck, opportunity, or connections, basically without any real talent, hard work, or strong. personal characteristics.
Now, imagine living your life feeling like that, imagine the self-dialogue that accompanies this sort of emotion. You could be ticking off goal after goal, doing a great job on all fronts and still have massive stress. It makes it impossible for you to enjoy the good you do or achieve in life. So, you can understand why this is a very, very important topic of discussion, and so it deserves an expert with years of experience tackling this issue.
Our guest is Dr. Valerie Young, an imposter syndrome expert, award winning author, an inspiring speaker with a Ted Talk called, Thinking your way out of imposter syndrome.
